Did The Chicago Cubs Miss Out?

REPORT: Justin Verlander Wanted To Come Play For The Cubs

...after some weeks of intense talk, it's not going to happen.

Making matters worse, as In adding 'salt' to a wound, word is Verlander wanted to come to Chicago!

And why wouldn't he? Two other Detroit Tigers are now on the Cubs team; pitcher Justin Williams, and veteran catcher Alex Avila  (arguably having the better success of the two).

Personally, I think the Cubs  (who have been looking to add another 'arm' to their roster lost out.

While what Detroit wanted in return, I'm sure it couldn't have been too unreasonable.

So, after having given the Cubs literally up to his last minute prior to having made his decision, Verlander is heading to the Houston Astros (his 2nd choice, or 'only' choice aside from Chicago).
